Former RB Leipzig head coach Ralf Rangnick is keen on taking over at Manchester United should the Norwegian tactician Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be relieved of his duties, reports say.

The pressure continues to mount on Ole following last weekend’s 2-0 derby defeat to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Old Trafford.

United have now lost four of their last six Premier League games which have left the club nine points behind league leaders Chelsea.

The Red Devils resisted calls for the chief to be sacked after the humiliating defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, with the likes of Antonio Conte – who is now Tottenham Hotspur’s new boss – and Brendan Rodgers mentioned with the post.

According to BILD’s Christian Falk, Ralf is interested in succeeding Solskjaer at the Theatre of Dreams.

The German tactician – now head of sports and development at the Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow – has been linked with the 20-time English champions before and is understood to remain interested.

Meanwhile, the Independent state that some figures at the Theatre of Dreams have mooted the idea of Ralf taking over on an interim basis.

However, the 63-year-old is believed to want a football role at the club following the conclusion of any temporary post, which could complicate matters.
