A former Premier League manager believes that Manchester United should hire Coventry City manager Mark Robins this summer instead of pursuing high-profile managers like Roberto De Zerbi and Thomas Tuchel.
At Manchester United, Erik ten Hag is facing intense pressure as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team consider whether the Dutchman should continue in his role as manager. Ratcliffe knows that there are other coaches who might compete more successfully with Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, even if he does not want Man Utd’s new period to be filled with upheaval in the hiring and dismissing of managers.
Ten Hag’s final chance at Manchester United is to win the FA Cup final on May 25 after they were eliminated from the League Cup and Champions League and had their ambitions of finishing in the top four dashed.

It will be extremely difficult, though, as Guardiola’s Manchester City, who defeated Manchester United in the previous year’s final, will be heavy favorites.
In recent months, the Red Devils have been associated with many managers. Graham Potter, De Zerbi, Gareth Southgate, and Tuchel are seen as the front-runners.
As an alternative, Man Utd may turn their attention to the Championship, where their former striker Robins is thriving at Coventry and they have been delighted by the job their former coach Kieran McKenna has done at Ipswich Town.

After Coventry came dangerously close to eliminating Manchester United from the FA Cup in the semi-finals, former West Ham and Newcastle manager Alan Pardew urged Ratcliffe to take Robins into consideration.
“I’ll give you a gaffer,” Pardew stated on talkSPORT, “He’s not international, he hasn’t won the Dutch or French leagues, but he’s an old player of yours [Man Utd].
Pundit Mark Robins would “do a job” for Manchester United
“Mark Robins, there you go. He’s done brilliantly for four seasons, and he nearly beat you in the semi-final.”
Bring him inside. I assure you that he will do a job for you.
“A former player who was familiar with the team before joining it.” He completed his apprenticeship before going there; he is duty-bound, has completed his studies, and is aware of the levels.
“I’m just stating that I’m not his agent.”
When Robins scored the game-winning goal in an FA Cup match against Nottingham Forest in 1990, Sir Alex Ferguson’s career as Manchester United manager was notably spared. The Red Devils went on to win the FA Cup the same season.
Remarkably, Robins almost lost Ten Hag his job earlier this month when Coventry overcame a three-goal deficit to defeat Man Utd and force extra time in their FA Cup semi-final match.
Victor Torp, a midfielder for Coventry, believed he had won the match in the closing minutes of extra time, but VAR cruelly disallowed the goal for a little offside. Although Man Utd prevailed in the next penalty shootout, Robins’ Coventry team took home all the praise for their incredible comeback.
