Man United ‘plotting’ fresh bid to sign 22 y/o this summer, Reds believe £50m may be enough to secure signing

According to reports, Man United intends to pursue Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton once more.

Because of the injuries sustained in that area of the field the previous season, Manchester United was almost certain to add a center-back this summer.

Regretfully, Leny Yoro, their high-profile acquisition, has been plagued by an issue for the past three months. Erik ten Hag could now have to make two trips to the center-back market in transfer window as a result.

The most recent information on that front comes from The Sun, which states that United is ‘plotting’ a new attempt to recruit 22-year-old Jarrad Branthwaite this summer. Furthermore, according to the story, Yoro won’t be playing this year, which is significantly worse than the initial three-month prognosis.

United placed two bids for Branthwaite at the beginning of their summer window. Everton rejected them both right away.

United could make another attempt to get the England international, though.

The Reds think Branthwaite might be signed for as little as £50 million, even if Everton had demanded £70 million at first.

Additionally, it is stated that Branthwaite would be able to start for United right away, with the intention of the center-half eventually partnering with Yoro on defense. Though I’m not really clear where that would leave Lisandro Martinez.

Though I doubt INEOS would be prepared to pay £50 million on a defender at this time, given the several other glaring flaws in the team that also need to be filled, I do think the Reds need another center-back.

Without a doubt, Branthwaite would be a fantastic acquisition, and Ten Hag would adore him. However, I still believe it would be difficult since I don’t think Everton will just take £20 million off their asking price.
