Before the transfer deadline, Manchester United is looking for a new holding midfield player.
The primary target has been identified as Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain, but the Red Devils are unable to pay the £51 million asking price.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United is currently negotiating a loan agreement for the 23-year-old player that includes a buyout clause.
The clubs are still in negotiations. In addition, Agent Jorge Mendes is in discussions with Paris Saint-Germain, as Ugarte is pressing to sign with the Red Devils.
The official Paris Saint-Germain website has called the Uruguayan “tireless,” and he has already reached personal terms on a long-term deal.
United might complete the move of Ugarte before the deadline.
Ugarte’s transfer is the Red Devils’ first priority over any other player. The midfield player has apparently been waiting since the end of July and is “crazy” to join the team.
The club is currently investigating an alternative that might work for the French powerhouses, as they have been unable to convince Les Parisiens to reduce their asking price.

It might be difficult for Luis Enrique’s team to reject a loan that includes a buyback requirement.
After Goncalo Ramos broke his ankle, the Ligue 1 leaders suffered a severe blow, and they will probably sign a star center forward before the deadline.
Paris Saint-Germain has no shortage of cash to spend on a striker, but given the future Financial Fair Play laws, they might be better off selling first.
Given that they would be assured of a sizable price for Ugarte during the summer transfer window of 2020, we believe they might be persuaded to accept United’s most recent transfer bid.
Joao Neves, a replacement already signed by the club, came from Benfica.
