Before the transfer deadline, Manchester United is keen to secure their top midfield target.
The Red Devils and midfielder Manuel Ugarte have already reached personal terms, and negotiations are currently taking place with Paris Saint-Germain to finalize an acceptable transfer agreement.
According to The Telegraph, United wants to sign Ugarte permanently this summer and is willing to pay Les Parisiens €50 million (£42.6 million) in order to get an agreement.
In the meanwhile, talks over the disparity in valuation are still going on between the clubs as Paris Saint-Germain continues to demand their asking price of €60 million (£51.2 million).
The Ligue 1 champions are eager to get back the money they gave Sporting CP the previous season. They have given United the option to sign Ugarte on a loan with a purchase commitment for the upcoming summer.
United should finalize the Ugarte deal shortly.
The summer transfer window has been quite successful for the new INEOS hierarchy.
Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui’s additions have increased hope that United can make it into the Champions League the following season.
The board still needs to add to the team. The club’s prospects of finishing strong in the Premier League would be increased by adding Ugarte, a highly regarded defensive midfield player.
The 23-year-old has excellent ball-playing and defensive skills as a midfielder. With 3.9 tackles and 6.4 recoveries per game, he had a 91 percent passing accuracy rate in the previous season.
The PSG website characterizes the Uruguayan as “tireless,” and he made over seven ball recoveries in each game. He also had an extraordinary work rate.
Ugarte would be a better choice than Casemiro, who has displayed regressive behavior. It appears that United will sign him in one way or another. Either a loan with a buy-back requirement or a permanent transfer might apply.
