Man Utd secretly contact ‘one of the best coaches in the world’ over replacing Ten Hag

Calciomercato reports that if Manchester United decides to break company with Erik ten Hag, they may make a move for Massimiliano Allegri.

Despite publicly endorsing Ten Hag this summer and giving the Dutchman a contract extension, the Red Devils are reportedly assessing Allegri’s interest in taking on the managerial post behind the scenes.

According to the article, there is still open communication between Allegri and Man United, with rumors of interest spreading through unofficial channels.

Allegri is considering his options after leaving Juventus at the end of the previous campaign. He recently declined a chance to become a coach in the Saudi Pro League. Due to the 57-year-old tactician’s actions during Juventus’ 1-0 victory over Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final, the two sides parted ways. Allegri was angry toward journalists following the game and received a red card during stoppage time for mockingly celebrating a referee’s call.

Even though Allegri is regarded as “one of the best coaches in the world,” his second stint at Juventus fell short of expectations; in his two years in charge, the only trophy he has won is the Italian Cup from last season.

After taking over the team for the first time in 2014, the 57-year-old went on to win five straight Serie A titles, four Italian Cups, and two Champions League final appearances. After agreeing to leave the team at the end of the 2018–19 season, Allegri did not return to work for the next two seasons until being reappointed in 2021.

A few months before the club’s board expressed faith in Ten Hag, Allegri’s name was briefly connected to a position at Manchester United at the beginning of the year.

Now in his third season at Manchester United, the Dutch tactician gained support earlier this month from Omar Berrada, the club’s chief executive, and Dan Ashworth, the sporting director. INEOS hired both of them this summer. Berrada said:

Do we still think Erik exists? Indeed. We firmly believe Erik is the best coach for us, and we will always support him.

Man Utd is “watching” Oscar Gloukh.

regarded as a long-term substitute for Bruno Fernandes

Oscar Gloukh
Journalist Christoph Michel claims that Manchester United is monitoring Oscar Gloukh, a highly sought-after midfield player from RB Salzburg, and that the 20-year-old is being considered as a long-term successor for Bruno Fernandes.

The Israeli playmaker, who just finished a great season in the Austrian Bundesliga with seven goals and fifteen assists in 29 top-flight appearances, looks to be under the Red Devils’ radar.

The highly regarded attacking midfield player signed a three-year contract with Salzburg in January 2021 after joining from Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Gloukh was linked to a number of Premier League teams last fall. Rumor has it that Man United, Arsenal, and Liverpool were all monitoring the playmaker’s development in Austria.
