While Erik Ten Hag appears to be the fan favourite to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, it appears the club are edging towards Mauricio Pochettino.
That’s what a lot of outlets around Europe have been suggesting, and reports from France claimed that contact had already been made between the Argentine’s entourage and the Red Devils.
This showed a desire from Pochettino to leave his job at Paris Saint-Germain and return to England, something RMC Sport corroborate via Loïc Tanzi.
Writing a relatively lengthy piece for RMC Sport, the journalist explains the manager ‘wouldn’t be against’ managing Manchester United, which has been ‘confirmed by the Argentine’s entourage in England’.
However, as things stand, there is no panic in Paris, because the former Tottenham man ‘has not asked his board to be freed of his next 20 months of contract’ and the Old Trafford side ‘have not made contact’ with Paris Saint-Germain.
It’s made clear that one of those two things need to happen before the Ligue 1 side start thinking about anything, including reaching out to Zinédine Zidane, which they are still to do, according to the article.
As for Pochettino in all this, ‘he doesn’t feel the need to respond to rumours he hasn’t created and therefore don’t need denying’, making ‘silence’ his motto for now.
That being said, he ‘doesn’t see a return to the Premier League with a bad eye’, where a manager has more power, because he currently ‘cannot put together what he wants to’ in Paris.
All this means ‘the long-term future of Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain is blurry’, and the ‘rumours of an exit to Manchester United aren’t likely to stop’.
