Manchester United are heavily linked with managers and one of them is Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino. The French giants were defeated by the Sky Blues in the UEFA Champions League last night.
According to a recent report covered by La Razon, the Argentine coach is pressing Man Utd to secure signing of two stars so that he can take charge of the managerial hot-seat at Old Trafford.
The Spanish news source have mentioned that the former Tottenham Hotspur boss has asked the Red Devils to sign Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid and Jules Kounde from Sevilla.
Trippier was a key player for Pochettino and was part of the squad that reached the Champions League final in 2019 (lost to Liverpool).
He could be an affordable option but in my view, Man Utd need to look ahead instead of signing a veteran player, who would turn 32 next year.
On the other hand, Kounde, who won the UEFA Nations League with France last month, is turning out to be a top class defender. La Razon claim that the Les Bleus star has a clause worth 90 million euros in his contract and Sevilla will demand at least a fee of 70 million euros (£58.8million) to sell him.
The 23-year-old has started 11 games in the La Liga this term and helped the Andalusian club keep 6 clean sheets thus far. At Old Trafford, Mourinho lured center backs like Bailly and Lindelof, on the other hand, Ole signed Maguire and Varane. Still the defensive concerns have been consistent and this season, the PL club have leaked goals on regular basis.
In such a situation, do you think Man Utd need to sign a new CB? Should they spend £58.8million on Jules Kounde?
