“Difficult to say no”: 24-yo hands huge transfer boost to Man United despite interest from multiple PL clubs

Should the chance present itself, Angel Gomes would think about rejoining Manchester United.

After being let go by United in the summer of 2020, Gomes has been able to restart his career at Lille in France.

The United academy graduate was trusted by the Ligue 1 team, but despite drawing praise for his technical skill in youth football, he was unable to win over the coaches at Carrington.

“I’m in complete shock!” | Could Sancho and…

His fortunes at Lille were drastically changed by the arrival of Paulo Fonseca. Though initially viewed as a number 10, the Portuguese tactician used Gomes’ technical security in possession and passing range to position him as the deepest midfielder in his formation.

He has continued to improve since then, even earning a call-up for England’s Three Lions’ Nations League games in September. He played with equal poise for his nation in the middle of the park and accomplished an amazing feat by making over 100 passes versus Finland.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are among the teams interested in the 24-year-old due to his recent surge in form.

According to a recent article from The People’s Person, United has entered the competition for their previous star.

The United supporters would be pleased with Gomes’ response when he was asked if he would consider rejoining his boyhood club in an interview with The Times.

The England international remarked, “There will always be that sentimental soft spot, so of course it would be difficult to say no.”

United has had trouble controlling games this season and is currently on a five-game losing streak.

It is obvious that the Manchester giants require a midfield player who can control the tempo and rhythm of a match, regardless of Erik ten Hag’s future.

Gomes’ Lille contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and if nothing changes, he will be free to sign with another team. Therefore, it would be financially and athletically prudent for United to pursue him.
