Manchester United are “monitoring” the situation of Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.
Writing in his column for Tribal Football, Galetti claims that the 22-year-old is being considered as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, although a move is more likely to happen at the end of the season than in January.
Felix is reportedly unhappy with his playing situation at Atletico but he is on €14.6m a year (around £242,000 a week) and that means there are only a few clubs that could afford to snap him up.
Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal have been mentioned as potential suitors over the past year, but Galetti claims that Paris Saint-Germain are expected to be United’s main rivals for the Portuguese international.
PSG’s chief football advisor Luis Campos has a strong relationship with Felix’s agent Jorge Mendes, so that will likely make the Ligue One champions the favourites for the forward’s signature. We shall see how this transfer story develops in the coming weeks.
