Man United are eyeing a transfer move for Napoli centre-back Kim Min-Jae. The 25-year-old centre-back just joined the Partenopei in the summer following a £16m switch from Fenerbahce. But he has impressed for Napoli, scoring two goals in eight matches and helping them to the top of the Serie A table, as well as a 4-1 victory over Liverpool.
The Red Devils are showing interest in Min-Jae and will hold negotiations with Napoli about signing the defender in winter. Man United are reportedly considering a move to activate Kim’s £44m release clause. But it is claimed that clause will not be available in the winter transfer window so United may have to wait or negotiate a fee with Napoli.
Tottenham and Juventus also showed interest in South Korea international ahead of his transfer to Napoli. But like Erik ten Hag, Antonio Conte opted to add Lenglet on loan from Barcelona instead. Erik ten Hag signed Lisandro Martinez from Ajax and the Argentine defender has since built a good defensive partnership with Varane.
That pair have ousted captain Harry Maguire from Man United but Southgate has faith in the Englishman and backs him to do well at the World Cup. He said: “Whatever reputation I have, I’m putting it on there. You always have to back your judgement and we feel he is an important player. He is our most dominant aerial centre-back.”
