Manchester United have the most expensive defender in the world in the form of Harry Maguire and one of the most decorated center backs in the world in the form of Raphael Varane.
Still, the Red Devils have only kept 2 clean sheets and have conceded 17 goals in the Premier League this term. Reports in the media suggest that United could move to sign yet another defender to reinforce the department.
According to AS, due to the ongoing defensive troubles, Man Utd could move in to sign French international Jules Kounde from Sevilla. It is stated that they have the funds to activate his release clause of 80 million euros (£68million).
The Spanish news source have mentioned that the Andalusian club do not rule out the possibility Kounde’s exit in January and they fear that the 20-time English champions could activate the £68million clause to sign him.
Last month, El Nacional revealed that even Real Madrid are in the running to hire his services but the 22-year-old does not want to move to the Bernabeu, instead, he wants to move to Old Trafford and has told his agent to negotiate with United.
This season, so far, in 10 appearances in the La Liga, the youngster has helped Sevilla keep 6 clean sheets under Julen Lopetegui. He has already made 5 appearances for the national side and was a key member of the Les Bleus squad that lifted the UEFA Nations League trophy last month.
Due to injury concerns, Varane has only started 6 games in the PL for United, on the other hand, skipper Maguire has arguably been one of the worst players this term. Therefore, do you think Man Utd should bring in a center back in winter? Should they splash the cash to lure Jules Kounde for £68million?
