Newcastle United will allegedly rival Manchester United in an attempt to try and land Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier.
The England star had been linked with a switch to the Red Devils during the summer, but the deal never ended up taking place and Kieran stayed in Spain.
However, once again the ex-Tottenham Hotspur man has been linked with a transfer away from La Liga in the upcoming transfer window, with the Magpies now also interested in the defender.
According to a fresh report by The Mirror, the club are hoping to bring the player to the club in the January transfer window, with new head coach Eddie Howe looking to strengthen his squad.
He is currently out of action because of a shoulder injury, but Trippier is expected to make a return for Los Rojiblancos before the end of the year.
The Newcastle upon Tyne outfit find themselves bottom of the English top-flight following their 3-3 draw with Thomas Frank’s Brentford at the weekend.
In other news, Manchester United have allegedly reached a total agreement with Ralf Rangnick to become their new interim head coach for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.
The report states that the agreement will see the German take on a two-year consultancy position at the club after his interim coach’s contract has come to an end late spring.
