Manchester United have been linked with Serbian international Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the past and once again, the Lazio star is on the radar at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils’ interim manager, Michael Carrick, won his first game in charge last night vs Villareal. In all fairness, the 20-time English champions have not been able to replace Carrick in the center of the park.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer failed to lure any top CM during his reign and therefore, the Premier League giants must move to sign a top midfielder in the winter transfer window.
According to a recent report covered by Corriere Della Sera, Man Utd are moving to sign Milinkovic-Savic from the Italian club. It is claimed that they are interested in the Serie A star, who would be the ideal replacement should Paul Pogba leave the club.
The 26-year-old player’s agent, Mateja Kezman, has praised his client and stated that soon he will be leaving the Biancocelesti. The former Chelsea striker claimed:
“He is a great club player, soon the time will come for him to live a new adventure and new dreams,”
The 28-capped international can play in multiple midfield roles (DM/CM/AM) and this season, so far, he has directly contributed in 7 goals (3 goals and 4 assists) in 12 league starts. The 28-capped international is a key member of the Serbian national side that has recently earned World Cup qualification.
Corriere Della Sera claim that Lazio president, Lotito, has been demanding a fee of 130 million euros for his prized asset but no club has ever come close to that figure. Milinkovic-Savic’s current deal with the side Italian side will expire in 2024 and as per Calcio Mercato, his market value is at least 80 million euros (£67million).
In your view, should Man Utd pay £67million to finally sign the midfielder January?
