In dire need of a holding midfielder, Manchester United have allegedly turned their attention to Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic.
That’s a story that has been in the rumour mill for a while now but despite the Red Devils cannot submit a contract offer to the star until January, they surely have asked questions to those close to the player.
That is what Tuttosport are reporting this week, stating there is a long queue of sides who have informed themselves with his agent, meaning they’ll have wanted to know what Marcelo’s demands will be going forward.
The newspaper explains he wants €7.5 million per year from I Nerazzurri, who are now willing to go as far as €6.5 million with bonuses included.
They do point out that it is possible that someone has offered him a wage of €8 million although they do not say who.
That’s something the Red Devils would surely be capable of doing, knowing full well they’d have to compensate any lack of transfer sum with a higher salary and a huge signing on fee, thus still flexing the financial muscles to ensure an acquisition.
It might be they will need to go even higher than that, because Marcelo made it clear that the first port of call would be a stay with his club.
