Manchester United will hold preliminary discussions with Al-Rayyan head coach Laurent Blanc today, according to reports in the UK.
The Frenchman is expected to be sounded out regarding whether he would be interested in taking the manager’s job at Old Trafford on an interim basis until the end of the season.
It is not known whether Blanc is favourite to take the job, with other candidates also being considered, and it remains to be seen if he is keen on returning to Old Trafford.
The 56-year-old did speak about replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last month, but he refused to be drawn on whether he would be prepared to take the reins.
Blanc has won four Ligue One titles, two French Cups, four French League Cups and five French Super Cups during spells at Bordeaux and Paris Saint-Germain, whilst he was also in charge of the French national team for the Euros in 2012.
