After adding Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui to greatly enhance their defense, Manchester United is now searching for midfield reinforcements.
Joshua Zirkzee, who Liverpool was only recently offered, is another addition to Erik ten Hag’s attack, and he’s now being considered as a means of bolstering the midfield.
Who is Manchester United currently attempting to sign? Let’s examine this.
In the midst of Liverpool rumors, Manchester United is attempting to sign Frenkie de Jong.
According to a report from SPORT in Spain, Manchester United believes Frenkie de Jong is the ideal addition to complement De Ligt and Mazraoui’s double deal.
According to the Spanish news source, Barcelona is prepared to sell the Netherlands international for €60 million (£51.3 million), and the Red Devils are expected to make a major attempt to recruit him.
It follows Francois Plateau’s assertion that Barcelona made De Jong available to Liverpool in exchange for Luis Diaz.

According to SPORT, the Dutchman himself would prefer to stay at Camp Nou, where he chose to stay in 2022 despite Manchester United’s £56 million bid.
It is clarified, though, that Barcelona must complete a significant transaction in order to meet La Liga’s 1:1 rule and resolve their Financial Fair Play issues. Ronald Araujo, Raphinha, and De Jong are all up for grabs if a high enough deal is made.
Arne Slot or Erik ten Hag may score a deal.
Given that De Jong is still only 27 years old, £51.3 million is a great deal for a player of his caliber.
The Dutchman was signed by Barcelona for £65 million in January 2019, but that amount actually represents a £13.7 million discount. He has also gained experience, so Manchester United and Liverpool should be enticed by this prospect.
After Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi turned down Liverpool, Arne Slot is in dire need of a new midfield player to take Wataru Endo’s place in the No. 6 position.

Ten Hag needs a new center midfielder because Casemiro is also starting to show signs of decline, so this £51.3 million opportunity is more of a need than a luxury acquisition.
