Despite their disappointing start to the season, there is no denying the fact that Manchester United have one of the best squads in world football right now. And as a result, there are a lot of good players who have not been able to break into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI on a regular basis. One such player is Donny van de Beek
The Dutch midfielder arrived at Manchester United in the summer of 2020 from Ajax. And it is safe to say that there were a lot of expectations.
Van de Beek had already proven himself in both domestic and European competition during his time at Ajax. But it is safe to say that things have not gone his way at Old Trafford till now.
Van de Beek could not make his mark in his first season at Manchester United and has barely featured this time around. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 5 appearances and featured for 154 minutes across all competitions this season.
Van de Beek looks set to leave Manchester United if the situation doesn’t change
As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, while Van de Beek loves the club, he will leave Manchester United in January if the situation remains the same.
There has been some hope that the situation could change for Van de Beek moving forward recently, but even then, it is hard to see him get a lot of minutes in this team. Thus, a move away from Old Trafford in January might lie in the Dutch midfielder’s future.
If he does indeed leave, there is not expected to be any lack of interest in his signature though. Before coming to Manchester United, he was one of the most exciting young midfielders in world football and is still rated very highly around Europe. In fact, he has been recently linked with a potential move to Barcelona.
