According to transfer news on Sky Sports (h/t Birmingham Live), Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is being targeted by six Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa in January.
The 28-year-old star has a little over six months on his contract at Old Trafford. Talks have broken down between the two parties, and the player could be leaving soon.
The winger has suffered for minutes, as he has failed to start a single league game this campaign. He was kept at the club after his stellar loan spell at West Ham last season, but a move in the summer would have boded well for the academy graduate.
Although Lingard could seal a free transfer next summer, United could cash in on him in January itself. Moreover, there are six Premier League clubs interested in him, with Aston Villa the latest party to join the race.
The Villans fired Dean Smith during the international break and appointed Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. The 41-year-old did a brilliant job at Rangers and ensured Celtic did not win a 10th league title in a row.
He has now come into a squad that made fantastic additions in the summer. If they want to compete for the European spots after their terrible start, mid-season additions could help.
