Sky Sports: Man Utd identify “unstoppable” star as INEOS’ dream next signing, he’s “world-class”

Alphonso Davies, a defender for Bayern Munich, has been identified by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany as Manchester United’s “dream” signing for 2025.

With Davies coming up on the last 12 months of his Bayern Munich contract, the Red Devils hope to address their left-back shortage by acquiring one of the most sought-after players available.

Plettenberg claims that Real Madrid is still a strong competitor for Davies, who is in high demand after earning a starting position under new Bayern manager Vincent Kompany.

Though Bayern Munich is “open” to an extension past the summer of 2025, talks over a new contract have not yet started in Bavaria.

Hailed as “world-class,” Davies is one of three Bayern players who have been linked to a possible transfer to Old Trafford in recent weeks. Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka are also rumored to be on United’s radar in advance of their respective contract expirations in 2025 and 2026.

Plettenberg claims that Davies is still Man United’s ideal acquisition for 2025, especially in light of the fact that he has been playing better lately under Kompany:

United has been forced to experiment on the left side of Erik ten Hag’s defense, using players like Lisandro Martinez and, more recently, Diogo Dalot to cover the area of worry as they begin yet another season without a healthy left-back.

Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw have not yet appeared in any games this season, and their recurring injury problems may force United to look for a new left-back in 2025.

The “unstoppable” Davies is apparently interested in moving to the Spanish capital before his contract expires, so it will be interesting to see whether the Red Devils can entice him away from Real Madrid.

Despite being strongly linked to a move to join the Champions League champions, United’s efforts paid off in the summer transfer season as they signed young French center-back Leny Yoro from Lille.

Morten Frendrup, a midfielder for Genoa, is being watched by Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.

The versatile Danish player, who made 37 appearances for Genoa in Serie A last season and contributed seven goals, is being followed by the four Premier League teams.

GMS sources claim there’s a good chance Frendrup will leave Genoa in the new season since a number of teams, including Man United, are ready to move forward with their pursuit of him.

Frendrup might be the perfect acquisition to help Erik ten Hag’s team in this vital area as United may be forced to look for midfield reinforcements next summer due to the unclear futures of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.
